Grief

||:I feel like I really need to talk about grief for a minute. Firstly, I want you to know that everyone in the Bible experienced grief. It’s a human emotion that you should not feel guilty for. The Bible says that God collects all of our tears. He sees our hurt, and Jesus grieves with us.

I’ve lost people. We all have. It’s a horrible feeling. There are going to be bad days. Horrible days. Days where you’re sobbing and it hurts like hell. But I want you to know that God will help you to make peace with it. It will take time. It will take lots of time to heal. But you will heal. (Even When It Hurts by Hillsong helps me so much on hard days)

Remember that they’re with God now. Something my professor said has really stuck with me: if they had the choice to come back here, they wouldn’t. That’s how happy they are up in Heaven. They’re home.

It’s sad to lose people. It’s not easy. And you are allowed to cry. You do not have to simply brush it off with “they’re in a better place now”. They are in a better place, but that doesn’t erase the pain.

Allow yourself to be sad. It’s okay to have really rough days. But please, please, please. Just hold onto God. He is holding your hand through it all. Through it all. He is right there with you, even when you can’t feel Him.

I’ll be honest. It took me a good few months to finally find some peace after we lost Shay. I felt like everything got knocked out of me. There were nights where I cried for hours, there were nights where I felt mentally drained or guilty or just confused. And it hurt a lot. But guess what? God got me through it.

You’re loved ones who have already gone home are so happy. They’re not in pain. They’re not sad. They feel nothing but love from their Father.

And it’s hard, living without them. I know that. But they are so happy right now. God is a God of love. I was you to remember that Jesus is with them, and He is with you.

Wherever you are, know that He’s with you. He’s walking right beside you. And He’s not letting go. Keep the faith; keep running the race set out for you. All of Heaven is cheering for you. If you have a beating heart, God still has a purpose for you for good.:||
